A strong character actor, Simon Dobson starred in the feature film, ‘The Man with Four Legs’. He has won regional awards writing and directing the short films, ‘Forgotten Carers’ & ‘A Short Film by Stan Frampton’. He headed a commercial campaign for Confused.com and is an experienced theatre actor, winning critical acclaim for the role of the Narrator in ‘Our Town’.
Simon trained at The Poor School, from 2009-2011. He spent his first four years in theatre, playing venues such as, The Arcola and The Kings Head. He then moved into film and television, appearing in several adverts, two feature films and some award-winning short films, such as ‘Pose’ in 2018.
Able to redefine his mannerisms and physical appearance, Simon won theatrical acclaim for his portrayal of Ebenezer Scrooge, Lopakhin in ‘The Cherry Orchard’ and Judge Brack in ‘Hedda Gabler’. On film he is able to capture both tragedy and comedy in roles that have dealt with mental health, murder, suicide and robots.
Simon is also a trained primary school teacher, a writer-director of short films, and he loves reading and writing children’s stories. In his spare time, he meditates, does yoga, swims and likes to reassemble computers for a laugh.
