Barbara Sotelsek was born on March 14, 1974 in Bregenz, Vorarlberg, Austria. She is an actress and producer, known for Herseye Ragmen/Regardless (2020), Paint the Dragons' Eyes (2020) and Killing Eve (2018).
After training as a tailor, Sotelsek worked as a costume designer for various theater productions. She began her private acting training in 1994 with Alexander Kubelka, Klaus Ofzarek, Willy Höller and A. Greenwood. Theater productions in Zurich and Vienna followed. In 2000 she became an ensemble member of the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna.
Sotelsek's first television role was in 2000 in the Commissioner Rex series. Together with her daughter, she moved from Vienna to Berlin in 2002, where she stood in front of the camera for her role as Alexandra “Sascha” Mehring in the series Hinter Gittern - Der Frauenknast. Then she dubbed audio books and played the role of Nursa in the movie Zara (2007) . She also appeared in short films like Arsonists and Halber Mensch. In the summer of 2009 she played in an episode of ZDF's Inga Lindström production With. In the same year she played in Vienna in the play The Attack. In 2010 she appeared there in the play A Child of Our Time. From 2010 to 2011 she was seen in the series Hand on Heart. In September 2011 she had a guest appearance on several episodes in the Anna and Love series. From January 2015 to January 2016 she appeared in the Daily Soap All That Matters as Sonja Brück. She is in a relationship with her fellow actor Carsten Clemens.
